Smart is “Stayin’ Alive” with its Smart ForTwo Mobile Disco show car—a must for dance fans on the go.
The one-off car features a floating DJ booth, music mixer console, fog machine, and light effects to rival Studio 54—well, sorta.
We’re seen plenty of tricked-out Smarts in the past, but this one takes it to a new level—especially with the booth crane.
The show car made its debut last month at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany and the party is rolling to the Salone di Mobile Milano, furniture trade show in Italy next week.
“The smart mobile disco is a great symbol of the Smart brand’s links with club culture—a scene that draws people together, forges bonds, and brings joy,” said Dr. Annette Winkler, Smart boss in a statement.
“The many different facets of club culture all embrace a departure from given norms, a different way of looking at things and the courage to try out something new.”
Product designer Konstantin Grcic created the Smart Disco and JBL provided the pro sound gear. The custom ride is based on an electric Smart EQ ForTwo and its interior houses the lifting platform for the groovy DJ’s booth.
The booth can be raised or lowered and features a mixer console, gooseneck microphone, and lots of lighting controls. There’s a fog machine located behind the car’s grille that blows smoke onto the dance floor like a dragon’s nostrils.
LED headlamps project an animated light show, while flashing strobe lights and spotlights can be aimed at wallflowers.
Last month, Smart sales were down by 71.7 percent here, with only 110 sold as the brand has discontinued U.S. sales of its non-electric models.
It sounds like it’s a good time to bring the disco machine over the pond to get the sales party started once again.
